So I was wondering how interchangable AK stocks are. I'm asking because I have a Romak II (Romanian 5.45x39 AK-74 clone) that was made with a thumbhole stock to avoid the "assault rifle" ban. Since the ban is lifted I would like to put a traditional AK stock on there, (and a folding stock would be awesome) but I'm not sure on which ones fit. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Generally speaking any 1mm stamped AK-47 stock set can fit any other 1mm stamped AK. There will be fitting required in some cases but for the most part they will fit. The only exception being the Yugo guns with the plate on the rear trunion.
You can make a 1mm Euro stock fit a 1.6mm Chinese receiver but you can't really go the opposite direction without losing a great deal of stability in the buttstock.
Also, there are certain stocks like the folder used on the AMD65 that will only work on an AMD65.
European and Egyptian stamped receivers are 1.0mm
Chinese Stamped receivers are 1.6mm
Yugo uses non-standard buttstocks
Milled Euro uses two-tang buttstocks
Milled Chinese Polytech use two tang and will accept Euro milled
Milled Chinese Mak uses one Tang and is slant cut
AK74 and AK47 are interchangeable.

If you can find a cheap WASR stock, strip it, sand it,dye it with red RIT then coat with tung oil it will look exactly like a $100 Russian set.
