Best Caliber for DEER hunting in GA.

.308 is nice, but my primary is a 30-06. Mainly because the Win model 70 I have shoots so sweet!

(I started with a 30-30, but lost faith after I had to trail a well-hit deer to hell and back.. Never had to trail far with the 30-06. (Pretty much drops their asses!)

Have you used the Remington sp cl in 125 grain?

In Georgia I use the .260 -- in Nebraska the 7mm STW.

.280 Rem, great for anything, and my good ol Marlin 336 in .30-30. I can take out anything with those two rounds.

My pops has a remy700 mountain rifle in .260, it is a sweet shooter for sure, and does a helluva job on whitetails.

Like others have said, it depends on where you hunt.I use to use Marlin CB special in 44 mag.....no deer ever took one step when hit with this round but its only good for short range. 99% of the time, I use a .30.30, I think it has killed more deer than all others combined. That being said, this year Im gonna use my new DPMS LR308....cant wait!
