Mike Rowe on work ethic

I read essentially the same thing from Rowe a while back in Popular Mechanics.

He makes a good point. College is waaaaaay more expensive than just a couple of decades ago (and it wasn't cheap then.) Some people go to college just because its what they are "supposed to do." It ain't for everyone.

A good HVAC guy can make as much (or more than) any college grad-without the incredible level of debt. Same can be said for many other trades. I think too many people are pushed toward higher learning just because. College is great-for people with a plan and something worth majoring in. College is a complete waste of time for people who study art history and philosophy. I think Rowe is doing a good job at opening the eyes of people who maybe should go another way. I know there are far too many people running around with massively expensive degrees they don't need or use-just because its what they were "supposed to do."
