  1. Septic pump question

We have a Clearwater septic system. Two pumps and an aerator motor, which has been running non-stop for 27 years, except for a few power outages. It has 4 tanks, turns sewage ino graywater, pumps it under the back yard. I have replaced one pump and one circuit board. I clean a filter every six...
  2. Could you turn off your phone and walk away from the internet

I don`t keep my phone on all the time. I don`t always keep it with me. During hunting season I go out of town a lot, for several days. I don`t miss the laptop one bit. This is the only social media I use except for the Allatoona fishing report on wife`s FB. I can do without this site, also, even...
  3. Savoy Auto Museum

Well worth the visit. Sign says "no firearms". I carried anyway with no problem. Nobody asked. Make sure you aren`t printing, though. They keep a close eye on everybody.
  4. For those who own night vision...

I have a little experience with two different night vision scopes costing a few grand apiece. One was top of the line,I was told. I never wanted one. Our hunting property became infested with hogs. I bought a Lumenshoot scope from Amazon with white, red, and green capsules(diodes, I guess). It...
  5. Demolition Derby is back!

Anybody remember the little announcer, Jimmy Mosteller, who walked around interviewing fans before the races at Dixie and Rome? I had a book about him. He went way back in racing. Before he passed away, he was absent for a few weeks(illness), then returned to Dixie. I told him that "It ain`t the...
  6. Demolition Derby is back!

They had 3 or 4 races at Rome last year. Glad to see it reopen. Good folks there. Every time I go I want to get back in a car, but I`m almost 78. I ran on some dirt tracks in NC in the late 60s. Guess I`ll be off my diet on Saturday nights starting April 6. Hot dogs, corn dogs........
  7. If there ever was a reason to stop going to McDonald's.

I only eat at the ones that have counter service. If I have to use the kiosk I leave.
  8. recognize these 2?

Hey, I had a meet and greet with Hopalong Cassidy and his hoss. Just me, Mom, Hoppy, and the hoss. Mom worked for the Lexington, NC Chamber of Commerce, and got Hoppy to ride in the Christmas parade. She came home , got me, and got us together before the parade. Now that`s old.
  9. Chemtrail Warning!!

Those Europeans probably , for the most part, aren`t old enough to remember WWII. Imagine 100 or more B-17s, B-24s starting engines before a mission. Each bird had four radial engines. That`s 400 or more engines. Several bases would start engines at the same time. Now THAT`S pollution. A radial...
  10. Place to coyote hunt

You don`t have to wait on the "coyote hunts" to open. You can kill yotes anytime during small game seasons on WMAs that are open for small game. You can use small game weapons which include .22mags, .17s. For a few years we were allowed centerfires during small game seasons(for furbearers), but...
  11. 2024 turkey rigs

TSS is awesome in some of the guns, but not worth the cost, in my opinion. Heck, when I first started turkey hunting, I killed some with 12 ga. 2 3/4"inch field loads.(lost a couple, also), Later, went to a 3" gun, then a 3.5"(835), then to a 20 ga 3". The 20 is all I neeed. I sold the 835, but...

  14. 2024 turkey rigs

I found a few boxes at AO. Bought 3 boxes, $25 each. One of them is yours if you still want it. #5 shot.
  15. 2024 turkey rigs

I tested Longbeards and TSS in my gun. Longbeards patterned the best at 35 yards. This was with the ACCU choke. Going to a Longbeard choke now, made by Carlsons.
  16. 2024 turkey rigs

I will be glad to if I go. I am going to call first, after I check Adventure Outdoors. Thinking maybe a closer Academy might have them, I stopped at Academy in Cartersville while ago. They had plenty of Winchester 20 ga. "Double X" turkey loads but no "Longbeard XR". I ordered a Carlson...
  17. Item Relisted! FS/FT 12 ga. Turkey loads

I have 10 full 10-round boxes of Winchester 3.5inch turkey loads, and 7 partial boxes of various 3.5inch turkey load, some are Winchester, some Remington, some TSS, some Hevi. Maybe a Federal or two. 133 rounds in all. I no longer have a 3.5 inch twelve gage. Will trade for other 12, 20, 16, or...
  18. 2024 turkey rigs

Worth a trip to me. Thank you.
  19. 2024 turkey rigs

After years of a 3.5 inch 12 gage, I went to a 20 gage half way through last season. I bought a camo Mossberg 500, accu-choke. It put same amount of shot in turkey target at 35 yards as the 12 ga. 3.5 did. Killed a bird with it. This season the 20 will be used with a Longbeard XR(Carlson) and...
  20. Squirrels

Some good info here. Warmer days, after cold or windy days, are better this time of year. I see more the last hour before dark. Yesterday, in the 60s temp, they were everywhere.
