  10. Who all carry a pistol while deer hunting

    I’ve always carried one either on me or in my small hunting bag. I’ve scared dogs off with it, and it’s taken some deer out. It’s my ruger P95. Built like a tank.

    Saw a buck down at the creek, but didn’t have much time at all the scope him. Had to scare off 3 dogs with the pistol, they were chasing our horses.

    12-16 Hunt

    Saw 6 does this evening, wasn’t really looking to shoot one. However my 4 year old son said shoot her daddy, and covered his ears. Shot her twice, skinned her belly the first one. Thankfully she stopped to give me a second shot. He asked when we’re hunting again, so I think I’m getting him hooked.

    Just had a small 8 that has serious potential for next year if he makes. He got within 10 yards of me, I almost got trigger happy.

    Saw 4 does this morning in the dense fog. One didn’t make it through.

    I’ve seen a large doe I call “she hulk”, she looks like a bucks body. I was climbing the stand unfortunately when I saw her, otherwise she would be dead. Seen two small bucks traveling together since.

    I saw a tiny 8 pointer, half rack we call duck, and a medium size doe in the food plot.

    Got in the stand once the heavy rain let up, spooked two little does. I got a roof over me so I’m good if it continues to rain some.

    Well I got some redemption this evening, best of all my son was with me. He wants to shoot a buck, but 9 does came out. He said shoot her, so we did just that.

    I grabbed our dog Maggie since she tends to find everything dead. She found blood we didn’t see 80 yards from our last spot. After that she didn’t find anything else. She followed the trail I already found well.

    Well I grunted in pretty big 6 pointer this morning, shot him facing me. Found lots of blood but no deer. Shot him at 9:40, called it just now. I’m hoping he’s dead, which I think he is just don’t know where.
