  1. Bear hunting questions?

I’m just saying, scent attractants are legal. Edible bait, anything that can be consumed is illegal. They do scavenge, but it isn’t a regular dependable thing. You’re more likely to be arch buzzards and yotes on a carcass, especially with acorns on the ground.
  2. Finally got it done. First hog!

Centerfires are NOT legal for fox and bobcat this year. The cut that out unfortunately. Guess the DNR didn’t like the idea of folks running around Dec-mid Feb with centerfires and no orange.
  3. Anyone going early season squirrel hunting?

Early squirrel season is for pig hunting. I use a 22mag or the compound bow. 22lr works too.
  4. Bear hunting questions?

Cant use bait, and consumable food, sardines, corn, bacon grease, etc. vanilla extract in a spray bottle, or any liquid scent product is legal. I wouldn’t worry with bear estrus (if you can find it somewhere) they breed in the early summer. Food is king this time of year, acorns acorns acorns...

  7. What kind of spider is this?

The spider the OP posted is NOT an orb weaver. Similar markings, but not the same. The spider he posted is a ground hunting spider, I don’t know what species but it is not a web spider like the orb weaver family. Notice the different shape and size of the abdomen, and how the spider is flattened...
  8. Did i pay to much?

Yugo is the country of origin. Furniture is an all encompassing term referring to stocks, grips, and hand guards. A lot of these imported guns were military surplus and were issued to soldiers, some of whom carved trench art into the wood. It’s just neat. Makes it worth more to some folks. Makes...
  9. Did i pay to much?

Rillos? Ya boy likes to burn.
  10. Did i pay to much?

That’s a Yugoslavian underfolder, with what appears to be some sweet battlefield furniture. They are usually good AKs. Every time you want one look them over really good. Make sure the sights/gas tube are lined up perfectly with the receiver. Inspect the rivets, some will be rounded, some...
  11. How to remove pitting and surface rust?

Neverdull works well on surface rust. You are stuck with the pitting unless you want to start removing material and refinish.
  12. Best snake boots for turkey hunting?

You can oil them and get them about 90% waterproof.
  13. Best snake boots for turkey hunting?

I’m only 30 or so miles into my Lacrosse boots, we will see how they hold up. I just got them before turkey season. Maybe the Danners will be good. My brother has been lucky so far with a pair of the Danner leather waterproof snake boots. I think he is going on a year with no leaks. He puts...
  14. Best snake boots for turkey hunting?

Irish setters are trash. Comfortable, but they will not hold up. Mine were only waterproof for about 6 months. All of the cloth/leather boots with multiple complex stitched seams are built to fail. The simpler the design the longer it will last. Fewer seams are fewer points to fail. If you want...
  15. Red dot issue

Call Vortex, send it back to Vortex.
  16. Bergara vs Tikka

The Beegara blueing is much more prone to rust than Tikka blueing. You have a bit more aftermarket support for Bergaras too since they are 700 pattern rifles, and the accessories for the Beegara are gonna be cheaper, go price some Tikka mags. Both brands will shoot better than you. I have a...
  17. Why do sellers ghost on buyers?

    Ignore him.
  18. Wild pigs have taken over our HC

No reason to wait until cooler weather. I shoot a bunch on my local WMA in small game season, Aug-Sept. I like to zip them up the back (gutless method), quarter and pack the meat straight back to the truck. As long as you get the meat on ice within an hour or two you’ll be fine. The meat cools...
  19. Are all Stores out of Ammo?

Man, y’all are lucky. Folks line up before opening at my local Academy. They don’t even bother stocking the shelves, they just stack it at customer service and deal out 3 boxes to the first handful of folks that camped out in the parking lot. I got there 10 minutes after opening last Friday and...
  20. Quail , yesterday I jumped two covey Of Quail.

I usually find them in 5-7 year old cut overs, or old pine savannah- the kind where the canopies don’t touch and waist-head high brush and grasses grow. My property and the neighboring family land is a mix of brushy grown up fields, 15 year old pines, and patches of hardwoods. We only have one...
