As I've done more research I definitely see that on a dollars per oz scale they are not a great investment but in a situation that fiat paper is gone they could be useful for purchasing same as junk silver pieces. I probably will get some at some point in my monthly PM buying rotation.

Gotcha. So then what are you buying in gold? I pretty much just have silver but wanted to start adding in some gold. Only thing I do have is a 1/10 eagle
