Not overturned. There has been a Nationwide preliminary injunction against enforcing the rule.
No final status as of yet. It has been appealed by ATF obviously. For now they are ok. No idea how this will turn out.
It is my understanding that there is only 8 people handling the entire nations NFA forms. I wouldn't hold my breath, especially with all the folks filing for their free SBR stamp.
Well that might be different but the thing is, I usually think long and hard and make sure it is something that I will hopefully always find useful before I spend the money for the stamp. If I were rich it might be different but I am not so no way of knowing.
Last report is they intend to file the new rule on January 31.

I don't see them trying to ban or reclassify braces. Just trying see that they are not used as shoulder stocks. If you use them as intended there is no problem.
Anything older than 20 years old can be destroyed. The rest are shipped to ATF where I have been told they are piled in the basement in boxes and once in a blue moon someone might have to go try and do a trace by digging through them but most of them have never been sorted or archived and still...
