There are several things that can wipe out a.hive. Harvest too late and too much and fhey can starve during the winter. Incecide and pests also take their toll. It's nature and things just happen. -

Yes, can do 8 med frames at a time or 4 deeps. Also helps to have a cheap filet knife to remove the caps as it is a lot faster and easier than some other ways I have tried. -

Best Ride on Lawn Mower
I have 3 acres to mow at the other house and used to have a Cub Cadet lawn tractor. After mowing for over 3 hours, I hurt all over and felt like I'd been bull riding. Once it finally died, I got a 48' Big Dawg (Hustler with upgrades) and I can mow same area in about 2 hours and still be ready... -

After some more good advise today and reasons why, I check found my 2nd brood chamber to be completely honey bound. Guessing I have about 60-70# of capped honey right now. Swapped around supers and they now have a med empty 8 frame to work with. Next change I get will be to go into the entire... -

After some good advise, I went out and swapped supers around and put honey on top and empty medium below. Founds 8 frames completely full of capped honey. Hoping this will hold them off for a few more days on swarming. Sorry no pics due to lighting and time. -

Lost 4 of my 5 hives last year. Getting ready to start making splits with the strong hive and wondering if anyone else was doing the same? Currently have frames in the freezer and replacement foundation if needed. Going for honey this year, so should be interesting. -

Update on honey harvesting. Robbed bees today and got another 32lbs of honey from them. One hive has a full super with about half capped and rest of it still nectar. I've give it a week or so and go get the rest of it. So far we have gotten just over 88lbs from the girls this year. Wife is... -

Don't worry, only first harvest will be done this way. Kinda like a dealer giving out free samples.:evil: Wife is ecstatic; so it was cheaper in the long run. Several friends offered to pay me; but we work on the barter system, so I'm not too worried about that. Extractor did 8 frames at once... -

I told my buddy that it is amazing that hives do so well since they are all females.:rolleyes: Nice thing is that neither the wife or myself got stung today dealing with the girls. Looks like I might get another pound or so after dumping the capping strainer twice. Not a bad haul from one... -

We have about decided that the flower flavor may be honeysuckle and gardenia. Bees are working on cleaning up equipment .
