  1. New Cartridge coming soon. 41 Great lakes

That is said of pretty much every new cartridge. If it is worthy it will live. If not it will die out. Kind of like the Grendel . My guess is this one will flop though. Too close to the 400 Legend that has marketing behind it.
  2. New Cartridge coming soon. 41 Great lakes

You are preaching to the choir on this one.
  3. New Cartridge coming soon. 41 Great lakes

Crowded hunting areas, dense population. Straight wall cartridges generally have less range than bottleneck cartridges, or that is their line of thinking anyway. Same reason some management areas require shotgun only.
  4. New Cartridge coming soon. 41 Great lakes

Some states only allow straight walled cartridges for deer hunting.
  5. New Cartridge coming soon. 41 Great lakes

How does it differ from the .400 Legend?
  6. Is this a bobcat or mountain lion on trail camera in cartersville?

Looks like a ringed tail on a house cat to me.
  7. Is this a bobcat or mountain lion on trail camera in cartersville?

House cat. Mountain lions don't have ringed tails and tail too long for bobcat. Just future reference, the reason they are called Bobcats is because they have a "bobbed" tail. Usually about 4" to 6" max.
  8. Bobcat or house cat

And the tail is way too long.
  9. Bobcat or house cat

Especially if the chicken came from a Chinese restaurant.
  10. 11/17

Agreed. If people would be more discriminating about what bucks they kill and shoot does for meat the herd would be much better off.
  11. 11/17

This little guy was loitering around my backyard feeder a little while ago. He will make a nice buck next year if he survives.
  12. Torch for rabbit?

I just skin them. It takes about two or three minutes.
  13. 45-70 for deer?

Yes, 45/70 will work. No one ever said otherwise. What I said is for 60 yard shots the 44 mag is the better choice in my opinion. Ammo is $1.50-$2.00 per round compared to the 45/70 at $2.50-$4.00 if you are limited to off the rack ammo and when you can find it. Recoil for the 45-70 is...
  14. 45-70 for deer?

My go to for that kind of hunting is my Ruger 44 Carbine with fixed 4X using 240gr Hornady FTX hand loaded, however, I am a little recoil sensitive with 4 plates in my neck and a bunch of hardware in my shoulders.
  15. 45-70 for deer?

That is probably what I would do but that is just my opinion. A lot less recoil involved, less chance of wasted meat and probably cheaper ammo, but the 45-70 would give you a little longer shots if that is a concern. You might ask your FIL what kind of ranges to expect if he is hunting familiar...
  16. 45-70 for deer?

44 mag is a great gun for GA deer hunting out to about 100 yards. 4x scope is also fine for that distance. I can recall a time when that was the main scope power that everyone used for farther shots. 45-70 will give you a little more range and will get the job done but it is over-kill in my...
  17. Butchering your own deer

I never paid someone to process a deer till I moved to GA in '95. Before that I had never even heard of a deer processing service. Even then it was several years before I ever used one. Once I started though I got pretty lazy. I have been doing my own a litte more often recently just to stay in...
  18. Best 44 mag ammo for handgun hunting

I have several boxes of Hornady XTP if anyone had a box or two of 240gr JSP they want to trade just give me a shout. Can't seem to find any online. Projectiles, not ammo.
  19. Define shooter buck in your opinion

I shoot does for meat. The only time I will shoot a buck is if he is at least 2 1/2 and still has spikes or otherwise badly screwed up rack. In other words, cull bucks.
  20. Any armadillo trapping gurus out there?

I have known of plenty of people who will trap a coon, possum or what ever and take it somewhere else and release it. Somebody else's problem I guess is the line of thinking. Why do people get all worked up when you ask them a simple question? The art of conversation is lost on so many these...
