@enfieldguy if you’ve got time, check this site out. Lots of great information. You’ve got a beauty sir! I’m a tad bit envious https://militarycarryknives.com/MKMAIN/MkMain.htm
  3. Gerber MkII

Had one just like it at Ft Bragg. Also had the Mk 1 dagger. Someone stole them. Would love to replace them one day. May be able to look up serial #. Mine was early 80’s. I see them listed for $300-$500. Not sure if they sell though. Thanks for posting.

  8. Help finding best blade sharpening system

I bought the one for $129. I got it at the 2019 Blade Show from Ken Onion himself. I got a discount I think. $109 or $119 maybe? Can’t remember for sure. My FIL bought one at the same time. He likes his for the same reasons. ETA: This one...
  9. Help finding best blade sharpening system

I have the Ken Onion Workshop for I think 3 years now. For me, the best by far across the board. Fast, easy to use, belts available, adjustable degrees for different edges. I haven’t used it for scissors, but kitchen knives, pocket knives, machetes, axes, lawnmower blades. Great and most used...
  10. How do you store your kitchen knives in a block?

He’s right. Your house, your rules. Mine are blade up. Holds edge longer. Worksharp keeps em razor sharp.
  11. If you had $200 to spend on a pocket knife, what would you pick up?

I know they don’t get much love on here, but I picked up an Emerson Super CQC7 at the 2019 Blade Show. I love it and got to meet and get an autograph from Mr Emerson himself. Not a knife snob, but it’s the best I’ve ever owned.
  12. Getting your knife razor sharp

love mine. The first time is the longest to sharpen. After that, based on how much you use them, simple touch up in just a few minutes. If you use the finest grit belt, it will give you a mirror finish. I rarely do that step. I sharpen mine as needed. Filet knives more often than kitchen knives.
  13. Getting your knife razor sharp

I got mine at the 2019 Blade show along with a good friend. I think we paid $109 and got to meet Ken Onion. Not sure when they go on sale. Maybe Father’s Day or Black Friday?
  14. Getting your knife razor sharp

Thats what I like about the WS. It has a dial to set the angle and a guide. I go from 17 degrees on my filet knives to 25 degrees on my cleaver. I used the coarse belt to reprofile my BIL’s knife he broke the tip off in about 10 minutes and had it razor sharp again. Unsupported belt also.
  15. Getting your knife razor sharp

Until a few years ago, I sharpened knives with whetstones/diamond stones and could put a good edge on them. I have since invested in a Ken Onion Worksharp. I can get my knives as sharp as I wish now in a fraction of the time. And I’m talking scary sharp. I hate dull knives. I use it for...
  16. Edge repair?

I have had the Ken Onion Work Sharp for several years and that is all I use now. You can get them shaving sharp in less that 10 minutes. That’s what I used to repair the tip on my BIL’s knife. Highly recommend!
  17. Edge repair?

yes it can. I just did one for my BIL 2 weeks ago. I think yours is a Blackie Collins dagger? If so, he was a well known knife maker and died in 2011. If that’s the case, I would try and have it done professionally. The one I did was worth maybe $30.00.
  18. Sharpening systems...

@djocon93 https://www.theoutdoorstrader.com/threads/fs-work-sharp-combo-knife-sharpener.2315165/ just popped up. I’m not familiar with that model though.
  19. Sharpening systems...

Owned my Ken Onion Worksharp for 3 years now. Even met Ken at the last Blade show here in town. It is by far the easiest and fastest way to sharpen knives that I’ve found. I’ve used many different stones, steels, Lansky, etc and this is the best by far. Like No Clever Name said, watch the videos...
