  1. Carbon fiber barrels

Your best bet is sell your barrel and buy one in the length you want. Talked to a buddy who makes carbon barrels and “most of the time” it’s not possible. Really depends on the barrel profile under the carbon.
  2. Need gunsmith to remove squib from Wilson Combat 1911 barrel

The correct way is with a brass punch the correct diameter and a BFH. All squibs are hard to bang out. Doesn’t matter who makes the barrel.
  3. Torque wrench question

That puts you in the range of a 3/8”….. usually.
  4. Torque wrench question

You are over thinking this. Give it a good snug, stake it(if you so chose) and forget about it. If you aren’t mechanically inclined and don’t know what properly snugged is for this part, just take it somewhere. Don’t buy a torque wrench just for this
  5. Replacing a Recoil Spring

Go for it then! It’s your hands and your gun.
  6. Replacing a Recoil Spring

If the gun isnt rated for +p then don’t shoot +p in it. The spring weight isn’t the issue.
  7. Trigger job stones

These would work fine for that.
  8. 1911

Someone fit a new safety and hit it with a file 1 too many strokes it sounds like. There is a fine line between a properly fitter safety and one that doesn’t work.
  9. Canik slide feels gritty

    Recoil spring not installed right?
  10. Glock tiggers

I don’t know the rules for that class but a 4.5 striker spring and reduced plunger spring can make a big difference
  11. Hog Leg Smith, Gainsville

He is semi retired. Just google his name. His number pops up. Call him.
  12. Talk torx bits.

Torx plus. I’ll second your recommendation for Wiha. Some of the best out there
  13. Simple Gunsmithing question for a lever on an old JM Marlin

It will not thread it because the major diameter is too big. Chuck it up in a drill and put some 400 grit to it. Measure until you get .210. I think it starts at .216.
  14. Simple Gunsmithing question for a lever on an old JM Marlin

I remember now. Its actual thread is a .210x28. I think I got a 12-28 bolt and turned the diameter down to .210. Then cut two slits on each side to catch any debris. It was a good little project but worked perfectly. You aren’t going to find a tap in the correct size
  15. Simple Gunsmithing question for a lever on an old JM Marlin

I made a thread chaser for mine. I’ll have to check when I get home to see the thread pitch.
  16. Optics cut for 1911 recommendation

They are running some good Black Friday specials on optic cuts too.
  17. Silicon Carbide appliers in Metro Atlanta area

I can do it if you want. I’ve done several for friends and several of my own. I think I only have 36 grit. It’s fairly aggressive but it’s great for a hot sweaty summer match day
  18. Need suggestions for case head separation on 9mm

Try the perfect sized tap or a bolt extractor?
  19. Looking for tips on rebluing a shotgun using a Birchwood Casey Perma Blue Liquid Gun Blue kit

Ever used that but I’ve had good luck with the Brownells Oxpho blue. Super degrease it and sometimes getting the metal a little warm helps.
