10-22 Question?

An article in one of the gun magazines, several years ago, compared a 10-22 in its stock form to itself as it recieved a trigger job and then a barrel upgrade.

Shooting off of a rest at some distance--cannot remember how far--the origonal group shrank about an inch from the stock rifle's group with the trigger job, and --I remember this part-- only shrank 4/10ths of an inch with the barrel upgrade. After reading the article, I stopped my 10-22 upgrades with a trigger job only.

If you want a heavier, lighter, or pure bench rest gun, the barrel change makes sense. For shooting small animals or paper at the range, the barrel is not required . Accuracy will always be limited by the fit of the bolt to the barrel and the quality of the ammo more than by anything else.
