Are you sure it’s a different case? I could have absolutely sworn they were both ATK extruded Brass (identical to Speer and Blazer, just different headstamp). Not sure if they both come from the Idaho Plant. The old traditional drawn brass has a different headstamp and weighs 5 grains less. I like the newer stuff a lot better personally.

I was thinking maybe champion cut costs with a lower quality plated bullet (like Blazer vs Speer Lawman). Champion feels less powerful, but I haven’t cheono’ed it. Love me some Federal either way!

I'm going by the info that I was given, from a Federal Ammunition tech, when I called, and inquired. It's been to long ago to remember, but he may have said that it was made in Brazil, where they make the Independence ammo.
