This is a small covered pit or "cut-n-cover" shelter. A much better example can be seen in the movie "defiance". These would be good for long term or a debris shelter for short term. An improvement on the on above is to dig and pile dirt around the perimeter of your pit before laying on the logs. About 1ft high and 2ft wide perimeter wall will help keep out rain runoff out when well packed. As you continue to dig out under the log roof with thick leaf pile or tarp cover u then thro ur dirt on top. This shelter keeps u less visible and is easy to heat with a hobo stove. When it has a foot or 2 off packed earth on top camo with leaves and it would provide great protection. With a concealed watch posted near by for 24hr security it would be safer than a shack. Size would be variable upto say 20' long and 10' wide and say 6 or 7' deep. No cost involved just labor
Nice concept but my wife's idea of buggin out.......

Take the money buy a boat, and shoot the hooch. Huck Finn of the new century. No one every goes to the river in the zombie moves. LOL
Damn........now you got me thinking.....for real.........a cheap john boat and outboard.......no traffic jams......a reasonable amount of room to carry supplies.....much better than walking and you can take more with you........the big question for me would be how close I could get to my bug out location.....the only thing I don't like about it is being exposed during travel.......I guess it's time to break out my maps and see if its possible......map out a course and then determine if some of the waterways are navigable.........even if it only get's me half way, it sure beats doing it on foot if all the roads a grid-locked......get as far as I can go.....stash the boat and go the rest of the way on foot......you would then have a small supply of goods in the boat for future recon if nobody finds it......Thanks brother.......good idea.
How much $ are the old de-commissioned school buses going for now days?
