I don't know what happened. LOL...7 mag is so fast it normally zips right through..Perhaps because of the neck shot. I don't know. At least you didn't have to track very far. LOL..But seriously, the closer the shot, the cleaner the wound, from my experience, which has been extensive.
I don’t know man. She was quartering towards me from left to right and looking directly at me when I shot, so the bullet ran down the side of her neck coming out vs a through shot from the other side. Been shooting my 22-250 for about 8 years now and have gotten in the habit of shooting them in the neck so I don’t have to track them or mess up meat. Got a brake put on the 7mag a few weeks ago and decided it was time to take her hunting again. Didn’t figure there was any reason not to continue shooting in the neck and saving that meat.
