14 F150 battery light issue, sometimes.....

A big box tool..... it was still on the truck.

that doesnt mean your alt is good to go. im not a ford guy and i've been
left behind on new cars and such, but a car that used to shut off and then
you could crank it right back up and with the bat light on esp was an
ign switch. New turd vehicles could be some tempermental malarky

what was the reading on the alternator? did you pull the battery to test for dead cells? A battery may work, but if a single cell goes, it to can cause your issues. even a new battery may have issues, thats why they have warranties.

I wouldnt think it would shut off if your alt dropped out while driving. You still have a fully charged battery. You would just get a charging light. Sounds like a ignition switch or ecu issue.

Got 2 interesting hits:

2: This on 2014 F150....

Wiring harness to the alternator was rubbing, rubbed a hole in the harness and was shorting out. New harness from ford was $270. Took me about 10 hours to replace. Shop estimated 7 hours. Total cost in a shop would be around $770 (depending on what your shop charges for labor). It was very difficult to get to, good luck if this happens to you.
