I recently found this rifle and had to watch it sit for sale for a week before I could do anything about it. I just knew someone else was going to realize what it was and scoop it up. It was advertised as an M1903 with a pitted bore but based on receiver markings I knew it had to be an M1903A4. Here it is as found...

After I got it home I pulled the tasco scope and rings off, pulled it out of the fajen sporter stock that it was in and wiped it down. I also removed the front sight to check to see if the barrel was parkerized underneath and it is so I'm pretty certain that this is an original A4 barrel, unfortunately it is a little rough on the inside. I also think this rifle went through a rebuild at some point in its military career based on some of the parts that are parked instead of blued.

Wrong scope.
I'm considering either a weaver 330 or a Lyman Alaskan as a stand in for the military versions of those scopes. Haven't decided on the direction I want to go with it yet. I feel like there's a good chance it would have had the latter since it's been rebuilt at some point.
