1911 Guys, Can we talk about these new Para USA guns?

I agree. Dan Wessons are top notch and very much worth it, but I could then just spend a couple hundred more and get a Baer Custom, so where does "save a couple hundred and get...." end? :)

I could also get a TRP for around $1,200, sure, but the $800-1000 price range is a sweet spot for a solid 1911 without getting too crazy. It might not seem significant to you, but for people in the entry level price range, it is a good step up and more than sufficient for their needs.

I haven't figured that out yet. I'll let you know when I do though. ;)

True. If it's just going to be a range gun then I guess that you don't really need all the craftsmanship or reliability of a Dan Wesson, or a semi-custom or custom 1911. I don't buy range toys though so I tend to take those factors into consideration when I'm purchasing any gun.

I can tell you that my favorite(and most reliable) 1911 that I have is a Kimber TLE II that I have about $850(including CT laser grips) in. I have over 10,000 rounds through that gun and zero malfunctions. The only thing that I have ever done to it was changed the recoil spring, firing pin spring and mainspring. I have pretty much retired it now though. I gave it to my dad because he loved it(and just to insure I didn't get bored and trade it off like I have been known to do ;)). It rides in his briefcase now and only gets shot when he comes to the range with me every couple months.

I had a chance recently to buy a TLE ll for $750 but passed. Kind of regretted it, but oh well. Just bored and looking to venture out From the usual suspects I guess. Hey, I may have to take one for the team and try these Paras out. Unless I run into a better deal on a TRP or maybe a hard chromed Trojan, that is.

What Baer can you get for "a couple hundred more" than a DW?

The kimber Custom II and TLE are excellent guns for the lower mid level 1911s. Not sure I would get one of their $1000+ offerings though.

I had a Super Carry Custom that I would still own if it weren't for the fact that I had to sell it to buy my Guncrafter. It was an awesome 1911 and worth every penny. The only thing I hate about most Kimbers is that ****ty KimPro finish.
