1911 Guys, Can we talk about these new Para USA guns?

I did some looking at Para January 2013 right as some of these new models by the new ownership group were being pushed/introduced. I think for the money it is a VERY feature rich 1911, the problem for me is I'm not seeing enough miles traveled to trust all they're saying. No doubt it is a sharp looking firearm, and I have yet to buy my first 1911, but with the Lifetime Warranty behind it, I see no reason NOT to give it a try. There are good/bad/indifferent reviews on almost EVERY Pistol on the market, everyone has their specific likes or dislikes. For the money, I would buy it... Sparked, you get one of the two pictured in your OP, and if you hate it... PM me, I'll take it off your hands.

^I will keep that in mind, flydawg. The jury is still out but I may just have to take one for the team. Only for you, ODT!

I have no doubt that if you buy one you will be pleased with it. I have owned several Para's in my life...all of them were fine pistols - but - none of them were 100% reliable and all of them had ramped barrels. In fact I believe all Para's except for the GI Expert have ramped barrels. Now, was the reliability all due to the ramped barrels? Probably not...but it still sticks in my craw, wherever that is.

I was looking at one the other dab and it was a decent gun. The barrel to bushing fit was tight and the slide to frame was nice also. The one thing I did not like was the trigger. It was very heavy and felt like it was too tight. I know it can be fixed but there are many others out there that come with a much nicer trigger pull.

I have read reviews of the same trigger issue, but reasoned that I would most likely change the trigger anyway

Paras are kinda known for creepy triggers by 1911 standards. My expert isn't too bad. Better than the Canadian P14s I've owned.

Know it's a bit late reviving the thread but for anyone interested I finally got my hands on a Para Elite. Trigger has very minor creep in the first 10% of travel but after that it's crisp all the way through. Other than the first bit of creep I mentioned, its comparable to my buddy's Kimber with a Wilson combat trigger kit. Fit and finish is great, as is the fiber optic front sight and novak style rear. I paid just over $850 and feel like I still got a good deal compared to other 1911's in the price range. Only qualm with this gun is the mags are good but lack the really nice quality to match the gun itself. Overall, I'm very happy with it and the 40 shots downrange so far.
