Direct injection fuel versus port injection..newer direct inject doesn't clean the valves and everything gums up 30 to 40k miles. $600 to 1000 to get them properly cleaned. You gain fuel economy but loose the cleaning effect of port injection. Duel injection works well but more expensive for the maker and us.

You can add a aftermarket catch can that is servicable to collect some of the oil before it goes back through the egr and it helps some but doesn't eliminate the issue completely.
