OK, update. It must have been the Jack, I had spoken to a hunting buddy who has the identical 22/45. He was telling me it was all about how you hols it. We spoke for a while and hung up. I went in the vault to get a headlight, came back out, picked it up and it all fell in place.

I am telling you folks, @ 62 I do not need a PETA every time I go to clean a firearm. I will be looking into a 22/45 Mark IV soon.

Well hour and a half later, mine is back together. Pointed muzzle down, up left and right, had to talk to the lord, but I got it. ( I did have to walk away for about 15 minutes).
Good luck

Thank you for the help. I am sorry for your efforts but I got mine too.

I was gonna say... usually for stuff like this I would go to YouTube and watch a couple of videos to get an idea of the process and tricks to move it along.

Buuuuut... after 10 years and 15000 rounds, I can't say I have ever tried to disassemble my 22/45. Shoot until it gets crunchy, scrape the goo out with a knife, zap with some CLP, throw it back in the box and shoot until it gets crunchy again. I don't do this with any other firearm that I own, just this one. I am pretty comfortable with the fact that I will probably never sell it and nobody is going to want to buy it.
