I have a similar setup and works flawless.....and is fun and cheaper to shoot. Takes about 30 seconds to convert from 5.56 to .22LR. The only real issue I experienced was that after shooting .22LR rounds, you really have to clean the lower due to the "dirtiness" of the .22LR rounds. Other than that, go for it!!!

yep, good stuff. mine is dead on a 25 yards and not bad at 50. 500 rounds for $30ish is nice also. no matter the kit, get the black dog mags. they feed perfect and load easy..

That stainless CMMG bolt is what I've got. It'll eat any ammo I feed it without a hiccup.

If you're running a drop-in 22 bolt in a 5.56/223 barrel it's not going to be a tack driver because of the barrel twist rate, but it's a fun plinker.

If you decide later on to build a dedicated .22 upper you can use that same bolt. You just switch out the chamber adapter for a dedicated .22 barrel collar.

Also, pick up some of these mags. They're made by Black Dog Machine. They work great with that CMMG bolt and Sig has them on sale right now for $8.99

I had one and traded it away. Not because it didn't work, just didn't seem right shooting suppressed 22lr out of my piston AR. Talk about pew, pew. If you are not good with taking out the fire control group on an AR, you will be after a brick of 22lr. Since they are blow back and not gas operated, EVERYTHING will be nasty in the receiver. Also, I always shot a couple of full power 223 down the barrel to clean out the lead and any trash in the gas system. They are right in the Black Dog mags, work great.

Exactly.....what he said....shoot a couple 5.56/.223 after to help clean the lead out of the barrel......

Yeah, I forgot that part.

I've got a dedicated .22 upper that I run with a suppressor on an AR15 lower.

After a day at the range I have to remove the hammer and trigger to get into the fire control pocket and get all that grime out.

BangBang BangBang Where is the long 223 shaped adaptor on your bolt conversion kit? Everyone I have ever seen has that adaptor on it to match up the chamber.
That part is called a chamber adapter. You only use it if you're running a standard AR 5.56/223 barrel.

My upper has a dedicated .22lr barrel. To use your bolt with those, you remove the chamber adapter and use a "barrel collar" like this.

The barrel collar slides over the end of the barrel.

Got the CMMG at Bass Pro when my M&P15-22 threw an extractor. Worked like a charm. Dirty lower and some chunks of lead in my VERY expensive muzzle break were the only downside.
