So far, I have found crimps in 556 military, 308 military, some W-W 35 remington and recently found some CBC 10mm that was crimped. Sometimes you can seat a primer without removing a crimp, but it takes more force, may damage the primer and could possibly be dangerous. Removing the crimp is definitely a good idea.

Throw some 30 cal carbine into that mix also.

I use the Hornady crimp reamer in a cordless drill, fast and cheap 7-8 dollars. Tac powder with 55-60 grain soft point Hornady bullets, cheap and accurate.

Any military caliber can possibly have a crimped primer pocket. If they are produced for over the counter hunting rounds then they most likely will not have a crimp. You can find crimped primers on 5.56, 308, 30-06 and 30 carbine and possibly others. I have found them on 9mm, 40S&W, 45ACP and 38 Spl on pistol cartridges.
