I'd go the route of buying a short block for it. This company has a good price on them:

Not sure what previews owner done to it.I recently gave a good 22re away, darn, bad timing.. don't often hear about them crack. Did you run it without antifreeze last month ?
I'll need to pick up the block from the machine shop. The guy on the phone couldn't describe good where the crack is.Depending where the crack is, maybe a good welder could weld it up ?
What year was it again?
Saw this one.
The short blocks seem a bit high.
