27 years ago, where were you at?

National Training Center freezing my butt off in the desert being told how unprepared the 48th Brigade was for deployment.

Longest NTC rotation like ever!

Wah, wah, waaaaaaah.

Hard to fight a battle when your tanks are down. Hard to repair tanks when all the spares were being shipped to where they were needed in the real battlefield. Literally saw a helicopter deliver a $10 bearing to get one of the M1's up.

Fort Bragg. I missed going to Panama to get Noriega because I was ETS-ing and didn't want to re-up. A year later, I did re-up and thought for sure I'd leave straight from Bragg; didn't happen. I was pissed but mom was damn happy. Her brother did 4 tours in S.E. Asia in the 60's and came back one scrambled cluster "F".

I was with someone's wife having a good time.
I just bought my house. Wondering if I'd ever pay it off.(I did 4 years ago, by adding an extra pmt. Every month and my tax refund when I could). I remember having a sign on my truck saying "God bless our troops" Got a picture of it somewhere. I moved in that house with one load of a s-10 pick-up, couldn't put it all in a semi now. Y'all don't miss the yard sale!!!

The night the invasion began was opening night for a community theater production I was working on. I was the stage manager.
We had sold a metric buttload of tickets to opening night, but I think people decided to stay home and watch CNN.

So we did the show to an almost empty theater. I can remember driving over to the theater that evening and the breaking news on the radio was announcing that the US Army had just stepped off.
