There are more good rifles out there than you can shake stick at. My only advice is to echo what a few others have mentioned regarding lightly used rifles and to point out you could probably trade into a really nice bolt gun on ODT. . There are a ton of used deer rifles out there to be had at a discount that are barely broken in (if that). My preference is to the Winchester Model 70 with CRF action (especially the featherweight) and the CZ 550 (more of a heavyweight) which go for more than $500 when new but are oftentimes available in your price range used. Plenty of other good options but that's my preference.

I have an M77 stainless Hawkeye in 270 that I love. My only complaint is that the factory trigger sucked. I put a Timmney trigger in there and that's my go to rifle. I love shooting the Hornady SST's they have been a hell of a deer stopper. Haven't lost anything yet that has crossed paths with the end of that barrel. Maybe 20 deer a few hogs and a few coyotes.
Swapping out for a Timney trigger is a great way to upgrade most rifles. I especially like that when I order directly they'll send out the trigger pre-set for whatever pull weight I specify.
Tikka ain't bad but you'd have to shop to beat this referenced price from the link. Euro Optics Has good Tikka prices.

Very accurate! Most accurate rifle I've ever shot out of the box but never shot the Weatherby Listed Above....but coming from a Mod You'd have to think the source was stellar!

Lol. All me being a mod means is my opinion on this subject is worth no more than anyone else's and less than most .
That's what I have, 1/2 inch groups all day long and smooth action.
