I think that big long bullet traveling down a tight barrel at a subsonic-slow-speed is very affected by friction. The slightest change in barrel temp will change the amount of friction and then the bullet speed.

Thats what I'm thinking! That 5R barrel must be tight as hell, barely used, and needs more break in time.

We have discussed shooting some super sonic loads to see if it does the same as the subsonics with the velocity change.

The % gain in velocity will be less as the barrel warms up, but the variation will likely still happen.
