I have been using 165gr sierra gamekings bthp in my 308 with varget powder. the game kings worked oaky on deer but i wasnt impressed. is the any 30cal bullet that expands very good that weighs 180gr or less that yall would recomend??? Thanks!!!!!

Get away from the hollow points. Try the soft point version. I've never lost a deer using Gamekings or Pro Hunters.
X2, The hollow point versions just arent as good at the btsp version. Ditch the HP or try Berger VLD. The only thing I have against Berger is that they started out comparatively priced with Sierra. Now they must be using 24K Gold bullet jackets.

I typically run a basic 150grn PSP... I am working on a load for some 180grn Flat Base Spire Points that should do the job nicely. Otherwise, I have used nosler partitions, corelokts and a few other with good results.
What do you consider "acceptable" results? Dead right there or within a few yards?

What if I want to pick cooked chunks out of nearby trees to eat right there? Would I need some of those hear seeking bullets they're talking about in New York?
