The Amax is a target bullet. It's designed to hit the target, nothing more. I know people do use them for hunting, but the SST is constructed as a game bullet. This from the Hornady website.

My pet load is Nosler 155 HPBT's over 44 grains of IMR4064 and CCI LRBR primers. IMR4064 is a pain because it's so coarse, but it does better for me than any other powder in my 308. My barrel is an 11 twist Krieger. If accuracy is your goal, just pick any good bullet, I personally like Sierra Matchkings or Nosler equivalents. I've also had pretty good luck with Ballistic Tips. In my opinion, the most important thing you should work on is seating depth. My rifles do well with the bullets seated very close to the lands or just touching. I get more bang for my accuracy buck by working out the seating depth before anything else.
