.357SIG: What’s the point of this cartridge?

Still back to 9mm though. Quick, repeatable hits on target matter more than a decent increase in ft lb

And for me either one works. I'm just as fast with my .357. I own and carry both, so I have no bias. Numbers don't lie, though. Foot pounds of energy are greater in .357, and when it comes to handguns and power, that really is the bottom line.

I'm not going to completely discard the work this guy put into his research. It tells us what it tells us, and I believe 9mm is better for most people, overall.

I've seen quite a bit of research on this topic and .357 SIG is a powerful, effective, and quite manageable handgun. If I knew I was walking into a gun fight and had to choose between my 19 or 32, I'm choosing the 32. No question. Of course if I was walking into a gun fight my handgun caliber would be one of the last things on my mind.

So whats your take on it since you started all this

My guess is he doesn't really care one way or another, realizing that good shots are more important. Maybe he thinks it is a caliber that is pointless when there are other effective rounds that are cheaper and more abundant, but since he has more experience with .357sig than any of us, I'd be curious to know his thoughts as well.

So much time is spent dealing with hypotheticals. At the end of the day this really doesn't matter to 99.99% of us. Unless you're living in Somalia or doing raids every night it's all inconsequential as long as you have a gun.

With that said if the 357 sig works for you thats cool too.

I changed an M&P 40 barrel out with a 357 SIG barrel and it's a lot of fun at the range. Most of the stuff I have is for fun, not as an every day tool.
