Usually 223 specific rifles should only fire 223 ammo. Firing 556 ammo in a 223 rifle is presumably risky. The reverse is fine though.

Oh yes, I know about the chamber design, etc. I just don't know crap about DPMS but, thought that the Oracle came in .223 as well as 5.56/.223. I usually but 5.56 in bulk so was curious. If what I think is true, it makes the Oracle above pointless for someone like me unless I feel the desire to buy more ammo.

A 223 Wylde barrel will chamber .223 and 5.56 safely.
