$429 for an AK

AKs just never thrilled me. I had a WASR and it did not group very well. I hate the sights and it beat the crap out of my cheek.

Yes they are reliable as hell, will always fire and may be good close up but I'd rather have something that reaches out and touches someone like my M1A.

Me either. The lure of AK's was that they were CHEAP, back before the 1994 AWB and even more so before 1989 and 922r. When a Norinco was $189 and 7.62 was $69 for a Spam can. ChiComm sheet metal that costs more than an entry level AR does nothing for me.

Fwiw I think 7.62x39 is a great round. Might as well get an AR in that caliber, given the state of the AR market. I remember paying 299 for my first WASR. It was canted even worse than the AMD I have. Makes me think about this movie about a Soviet unit in Afghanistan where a soldier gets issued a rifle with a totally bent barrel.

I like most things that go bang in my hands! Agreed the AK doesn't quite compare to an M1A but they sure are fun!
I got to stretch my Norinco M1A clone out recently at CMP Talladega. Hadn't shot iron sights past 100yds in 23yrs but felt I did OK for and old Jarhead.

AKs are super fun to reload on a timer and the underfolders can be stashed almost anywhere. Every stable deserves one.

I'd snag a OPAP or WASR for a little more than the AMDs go for. The Hungarian SA 85Ms are great, but even more.
