Just starting out to reload for the .45-70 and have been looking at various powders to use.
Consistently IMR 3031 is shown as being a good across the board powder for this cartridge.
I plan on strictly shooting 350 grain jacketed FP or HP bullets with a standard large rifle primer. Various reloading sources show 56.0 grs of IMR 3031 to be safe to use in MY Marlin 1895SS rifle.
So my question is, does anyone here use that powder/weight with 350 grain jacketed bullets, and what are your thoughts. I'm looking for a mild load and not trying to push the ballistic envelope of this fine old cartridge.
Regards,
Rob
