450 Marlin Curiosity

Hey Fellers!

Is the 450 marlin cartridge obsolete. I’m curious about future ammo availability. I have an Marlin 1895 guide gun in 450 marlin, JM stamped. I was curious about the value of it as if I should hold on to it.

IMHO the cartridge is a dead-end experiment. I doubt it will become a collectible, so the value is as a user. There might be a slightly greater value in Alaska where a bump in factory power could be more critical. Otherwise for someone who handloads the level-of-effort to load 450 Marlin would be pretty similar to a 45-70.

If it were me I would try to trade for something else. Perhaps a weatherby vanguard with a Leupold scope and 170 rounds of ammo.
