4runner owners

wow.

best we ever got in our 96 4wd was 18 on a interstate, got 13-14 in town.

our Expedition gets 12 in town, 16.6 on interstate. half the price (used), twice the room.

when did they start putting the V-8 in em?
thats the one Id want.

Yeah, we have been suprised with the gas mileage. She drives 4.0 limited 2wd from auburn to Duluth every day and sits in 316 and pleasant hill traffic both ways. She was getting 14 in her Expedition.

Roundhouse, I think yours had an issue because I get a steady 18 to 19 mpg avg city and hwy. Always have.

You're right, it does not seem right. Some vehicles from factory just plain outright suck. My wife bought a 2010 used GMC Acadia with 12000 miles and it only averaged 14-15 mpg. That thing kept burning up coil packs, I think GM replaced 4 of them before 30,000 miles. So when the warranty ran out we traded it in on a 70,000 mile used 4runner and the wife loves it.

I have owned two vehicles in the last 27 years. A 1987 4 Runner bought new in Nov of '86, sold it with 220k miles on it (for $4,500) and went out and bought (in Nov of 2000) a 2001 4 Runner which I still drive and don't plan on selling any time soon.

Both have been great vehicles.

I have a 98 4runner with 286,000 miles. Original engine, tranny and clutch. Finally had to replace the starter last week but runs like a champ and still gets 20mpg

Bought a 97 about a year ago has 186K on it does not get the best milage 2 inch lift 33" tires 4x4 I get around 15 MPG I can hang meat in the summer in it the AC is so cold I should have bought one a long time ago
