I have 5,000 #69 primers, but don’t gave a recipe. Anyone have a reloading recipe for them? I have a few thousand small primer pocket Remington hulls. In Lyman first edition list loads for 12, 16, 20 and 28 gauge ones . Problem is the wad and powder. I have blue dot 🔵, Red Dot🔴, Green Dot, Herco, Pro Reach, Long Shot, and Lil gun. PB and SR 4756 are the powders they list for Remington #69. Anyone have ideas?

Kurt,

There was an issue with the #69 primers using fine grain powders.
Unlike the current 209 size/style primers, the flash hole of the #69 primer is open and fine grain powders could migrate into the primer cup causing excessive pressure.

You may have better luck posting this question on the shotgun specific forums like Trapshooter or Shotgun World.

Not sure how far you are willing to chase this rabbit, but Precision Reloading can test the loads if you want to experiment with modern flake powders and plastic wads.
The cost is $53.10 to have 5 shotshells tested.

They also sell fiber and felt wads if you want to try to replicate the loads found in Lyman #1 using current production powders based on burn rate.

Antiques. Put em in the collection case and buy some modern primers! Collectors will likley pay good for those old primers and hulls and you can come out ahead…..
