72 s/f apartment for rent - $1,345/mo

We’re all blessed to be here living in this post WW2 bubble they call the American dream. Ask anyone who lived though the depression. All my grandparents trapped birds and squirrels to avoid starvation.

Why ? You could not pay me to live like that.

Well, his reason is that the wife's elderly mother won't leave the city. She is Chinese and speaks very little English, and feels comfortable in NYC. And his wife feels obligated to stay there with her, although she would most likely move to GA in a heartbeat, where they already own a home that they use when they visit.

I lived in NYC when I was younger, but my studio was 500s/f. It was tiny. At the time, my work and friends were all in Manhattan so it made sense to get a tiny apartment in Manhattan.
Other reasons:
You only sleep and get ready at home. I spent most of my time outside. All I needed was a bed and bathroom.
Didn't cook big meals...instant ramen noodles or some soup...mostly ate at restaurants with friends.
Everyone was doing it.
No need for a car, auto insurance, or parking. (car $500, insurance $200, parking $300)
Drink a lot with friends and get home in 10 to 20 mins compared to 45 mins to 1 hour when I moved to NJ.
Drive drunk is not good, but using call taxis (no uber then) to get home in NJ was $50 plus tip, then using another call taxi to get back to your car was another $50 plus tip, plus parking overnight was another $30.
It was crazy expensive.

I later moved to NJ and then to GA.

NYC is the best for a bachelor/bachelorette.
GA is the best for family life.

Do they bring their NYC WAY OF THINKING when they come to visit?

We've added about 100-150 million new people here this government calls Americans now. They have no idea about this country's history, its struggles, the hardships its citizens endured back then. They are mainly interested in when their EBT gets charged up...

My buddy is pretty conservative. In fact he got the rest of us in the golf foursome to read "Atlas Shrugged" as well as a couple of other Ayn Rand books. But he does have some tree-hugger proclivities. His wife is a bit more liberal, but we don't discuss politics much in general as a group.
