Several years ago I had just pulled my bow up into the stand and wrapped my release around my wrist. As soon as i did darned if one of the biggest bucks I had ever seen from a stand walked down a trail less than 20 yards away. What should have been a slam dunk shot didn't turn out that way. My arrow went right through him and it was covered in fat, hair and a little blood. I never found any other sign of him and I looked forever. Two weeks later that same deer showed up on one of my cameras. The best I can tell is that my arrow went above his lungs and below his spine. It broke my heart not to get that deer but that stuff happens and I'm glad he survived. It's still early in the season and you've got the best part of the year still ahead of you. Good luck!

Reminds me of the time I shot at a doe on one the lake Lanier island quota hunts .
All I found was a pencil eraser sized chunk of fat with a trace of blood at the top.
Looked for hours and covered the whole island.
It may have went for a swim.
