9.5 road trip. Would you bring a rifle?

Do you bring a travel buddy other than a pistol? AR, AK, etc..

So "winter break" is here for Cobb County Schools. Time for me to get the car cleaned, pack the kids us up, and head out to the beach in south Florida. Now, I have a question for you all. Am I weird to pack an AR15? I've got it in my soft travel case. The case has "mag holders". I've got all six filled up with 30 round mags. Seems normal to me. However, my wife is trying to make me feel like a weirdo. I told her it was for protection, but really I am going to sneak off and go to the range.

Do you guys ever bring a rifle while going on road trips? I see nothing wrong with this.

Something else to pack n keep up with, worry about getting stolen, or "misunderstandings" with loco-l LEOs.

Unless you taking the family on a tour of Floridu's greatest slums... no.

I'd probably just carry on my hip. If you do decide to take a rifle then
make sure you have adequate means to secure it/ lock it down so it doesn't get stolen.
Leaving unsecured guns in a vehicle is asking for trouble. A cable lock through the action and around the seat base with cover on top oughta do.

Yup. Gun safe at the beach house. I'm the guy that won't stop, only for gas. Make the kids pee at those stops. It's usually a 10+ hour drive, but we've made it in 9.5 once.

Two pistols, using the same ammo and mags, is what I would take. Rifle is more difficult to secure, when stopping for gas, breaks, etc.

My SBR goes EVERYWHERE with me. Especially on road trips. You never know what you're going to run into these days, especially that far from home. Rather have and not need then not have and need.
