I have a horrible smell coming through my vents when my a/c is on and I accelerate. Doesn't do it right on start up but as I apply a decent amount of pedal it starts. It smells awful!!! (like dead fish, rodents, etc...)

Anybody have suggestions or experienced this before?

I'd say you have a dead rat or mouse in your blower/airbox. The reason it smells worse when you accelerate is because the fan speed slightly increases with the voltage increase upon acceleration.

It is a probably a dead rat in the blower motor, after checking/removing go to the auto parts store and buy "frige-fresh"open all windows turn the fan on high (NO A/C)and turn it on outside air then spray the frige-fresh into the outside cowl area by the wiper blades till the can is empty this should do the trick.

Are you sure that you don't have a small heater core leak? There is a coresponding increase in coolant pressure when the engine RPM increases. If the coolant is old it will STINK and become corrosive causing the heater core to seep fluids. After the motor has cooled take off the cap and smell your antifreeze. If it smells the same replace the core and flush the system and hope that is all the damage done.

I could not find anything (rodents, etc...)....what you are saying about the core leak is very possible though. The coolant looks horrible and doesn't smell very pleasant either. Thanks for all of the advice. Will see if that solves the problem.

Unfortunately I have a heater core leaking...the fun begins...in my F150 you have to take the whole dash apart for a $40 part...Ford's design sucks.

Most heater cores are difficult. I usually start the price at $100 and tell the customer the price may rise significantly. Good luck and be cafefull.
