A/C temps

A freestanding stove will always put off more heat than an insert, but I know a guy with an insert that has a blower on it and it can get his house so hot that it’ll run you out of there.

He has high ceilings too.

I have wanted to get a blower for just never have. My wife is afraid to leave any remnants of embers in it when we go to bed so you have to plan your fire accordingly. Haven't had a fire in it in years. I cut down a river birch in my yard and she hand selected the logs to put in the fire place for decoration.

Geez... those are some lofty temps.

Mine's 85 during the day when I'm not home and goes to 76 before I get home. Holds 80 all night.

I have my upstairs unit and downstairs unit set the same. Plenty cool for me since I really only want the humidity reduced.

I would suggest looking into a Honeywell Redlink system which uses the thermostat and various sensors placed through the home to regulate the environment. Might cost you a few hundred to get it installed, but will save you about $400 the first year you have it.
