A serious question

I cringe as well when I see some of the listings but I also understand why the bosses set the rules as they do. I hope most folks here know someone they can PM if they aren't sure something is a square deal. Between here and GON I have a lot of feedback and have done a lot of dealing - if you're unsure shoot me a PM and I'll try to help...

I am by no means a gun expert or even guru. Every time I come across a gun I may be interested in I goggle the sh*t out of it looking for prices and reviews. I have a guy I can hit up on info for AK's, but that is about it. I take the rest on my own. I was called out on a listing about the round count on a pistol I had listed. I was under the assumption it was not fired when I got it. A member chose to call me out openly as opposed to PMing me. I verified the info and changed to post of course, I am not out rip anyone off. But it did bother me how he did it and I would have rather him sent a PM. What is funny is he then posted the PM I sent him on the same thread, then claimed not to be an a$$. Seems to me he is one.

We have alot of experienced gun buyers/sellers/traders on the ODT, but we also have alot of new gun buyers/sellers/traders on here as well and there is nothing wrong with that. To help further our site, and the firearm community, we need to help one another v/s bashing someones ad. If the item they are trying to sell is too high, they will figure it out on their own when no one buys it. If its too low they will know when it sells in 5 mins. If the info about the item is wrong then PM the seller and let them know that the info is wrong, who knows what they got told when they bought it, they probably are honestly describing the item as it was described to them if they just got it in on a trade or just bought it. My first gun trade was a Rem 11/87 shotgun, for a Taurus 2/47, the guy showed me a receipt for $525.00....I did'nt know it was my first trade.

I have seen certain mods call folks out in thier ads, assuming that is after a pm not solving issue...I think questions about an item are ok to post. If the point of the question is based on the integrity of the deal, pm is best first option, IMO...
