A Tale of Two Crush Washers, or Two Crush Washers One Barrel, and other AR oddities

Not AR related, but....found a threaded pipe nipple used as a stock bolt spacer on this Stevens 94. I'm always finding interesting things used as shotgun magazine plugs, but this one caught me off guard.

Found this in my father’s closet after he passed away. I’m pretty sure it’s a plug for his shotgun, but also pretty sure there is one in it. I need to check that out,

That’s one way to ruin a brand new DDM4V7.

Don’t drive in the trigger guard roll pin without some kind of support in there to prevent this from happening. The trigger guard itself should suffice.

So that lower is trashed? Absolutely No way to repair?

I wouldn’t say that it’s trashed. I would say that a repair isn’t very cost effective, or a repair that is simple and easy won’t be very strong.

This is an easily preventable mistake. When hammering steel pins through a relatively thin aluminum tang, it’s a good idea to provide some support.
