It's not hard to figure out the rut season is here. All the dead deer on the side of the road is just rediculous. I was coming home from Lynchburg over the weekend and I looked down at the time on the radio. When I looked up I was about 2 feet from a deer head. I swurved just in time to miss him. I swear his nose hit paint just enough to clean it for him. I tell you up here in Virginia you have to be very careful when driving in these mountain roads. They are everywhere. I see at least two or three off to the side of the road feeding. Needless to say my heart speed up a tad! I am not exaggerating that is was that close. He got lucky I looked up when I did.

Several years ago my wife and I were driving the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia at night, full bright moon, heading south towards home. Had a monster buck come trotting up a hill and thankfully it stopped before he crossed the road.

I watched it cross the road in my rearview mirror, and as I looked forward, I about hit another one - lol.

Yeah, Virginia has a lot of deer, and they don't always "look both ways".

Yeah I live about 2 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. I live right at the James River crossing there that goes to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I take a right there and go south and there's a couple of clearings there and there's always deer there. And you're right the bucks get up here getting monstrous.

I've had 4 separate deer incidents with my car over the years - I hit 2 and 2 hit me.
