Adding a Remington 700 detachable magazine??

What all is involved w/ doing this modification? As has been determined previously, I am not a gunsmith, but I can handle a screw driver I started looking into this conversion and there are so many different companies and magazines available. And so many different variations of the Remington 700 that I think I know less than when I started looking.

Who has done one? What company makes the best conversion? Best magazine?

FYI: I have a Remington 700 SPS Varmit in .308.

I saw them, but wondering just how "drop in" they actually are.

done a couple of the magpul ones. not drop in, but dremel in....
worth the time, the magpul mags work better than the ai mags i have used
it will take a little time,take a little out of the stock, and some off the bottom metal.

Check out CDI Precision. Good bottom metal, better than the price suggests, and if you send him your stock, he will inlet it for free (just pay shipping, of course).

As far as mags are concerned, go with AICS pattern mags. It's pretty well the industry standard. A number of folks are making them, even Magpul now. The magpuls are reliable, but if you reload, you may be limited on seating dept a slight bit.

Had a gunsmith do mine... Used the Magpul kit... wanted clean milling lines on that high dollar HS precision stock... then set the correct depth for the mags...

I bought a Greyboe stock that already comes inletted for an M5 style DBM.

Waiting for my DBM to ship so I can put it all together.
