Adventure Outdoors Range

Thanks for the heads up. Any range that petty to incorporate a way that I can't collect MY brass is one I want to avoid.

They are there to keep the place a little cleaner, not to steal the brass I'm sure! It's a small grate that doesn't cover the whole floor. Those of us who clean up after we shoot just sweep it to the grate.

Oh ok. I know some ranges collect the brass that shooters can't get to and sell it or they'll trade it in to where they get their range ammo. Seems like having a way to collect most of the brass would be to their financial benefit but I can see the ease of just sweeping into the grate vs having to bend down and get the broom and dustpan.

Went to that range when it opened and never returned. I don't like the fact you can't pick up your brass and there is somebody breathing down your back the whole time.

I prefer shooting out in the country on friends land. If I have to go to a range, I guess Creekside in Taylorsville would be the one. Nice and open. I don't like going to indoor ranges where people bring their girlfriends who have never shot before, or any other inexperienced shooters for that matter. I have seen people swept with fingers on trigger, and other dangerous actions people who are unaware and inexperienced do. Yes, I try to tell them, but it seemed like every trip to an indoor range I would see stuff like this.

so, no more indoor ranges for me....:)

Yes u can pick up your own brass and u can bring your own targets also. I also bring a piece of cardboard and cover the grate so I can get my brass. Got yelled at for putting foot past the line under counter trying to get brass though. It is one of the worst ranges for noise also. Bad noise proofing and feels like your in a tunnel or pipe shooting. Very uncomfortable. Have only went twice and won't go again myself. And the training video is a joke also.. but I guess covers their butt in case something happens. But after u watch some people shooting I see why people shoot themselves.

I shoot a lot of cheap ammo and if the bullet attracts a magnet then they don't want you shooting it. That's what sealed it for me for AO range.

Sandy Springs Gun Club & Range as well as Norcross Gun Club and Range both allow steel core ammo. Just no tracer or incendiary. Up to .50 cal, too, I believe.

Did you notice if they ever put in a camera system over the lanes? The company I was working for at the time put in their network system (and it was a PITA in spots) and they were taking bids for a CCTV system that would have a camera facing each shooter and shooter's lane. We didn't bid for that because of the costs involved, but I haven't been back in there since they finished to see what they did with the shooting lanes.

  1. Each lane is over a grate so that you can't collect your own brass.
  2. I don't know what it was about the acoustics in there, but it was MUCH louder than any other indoor range I've been in.

I went there for the first (and likely last) time a couple of weeks ago. I definitely agree with the range seeming louder. And I also didn't care for the guy lurking in the background. Felt like he was going to pounce if I didn't follow the DVD to the letter. I did like the electronic gizmo that moved the target exactly the distance you typed in! No guessing how far out it really was.

Yeah the gate took like 200rds of 9mm and 223 brass from me and stole 2 live rounds of 223. I just take whatever else isn't below the gate lol.

I think the purpose of the gates are to steal your brass.
