advice for an old man

when I was young we raised our porkers. What advice to an old man that would give huntin this a try?

What kind of hunting are you going to be doing still hunting or stalking? Are you going to be baiting them?

This would probably be on a wma, so baiting would not be o k. Can this hunt be done from an ambush like deer huntin?

Well on a WMA you'll have to wait for another season to be open unless they are having some kind of special hunt. They can be hunted like that, but if you cant bait its easyer to find fresh sign and follow it.

Spend the $135 and go kill a hog at Hog Wild HP,pretty cheap and you get an intrduction to hog hunting.

I don't know where your at but if you can get to Ft Stewart the hogs are still plentiful. I just took 2 weeks of vacation and went hog hunting 7 times and got me a hog 5 out of the 7 times from 125 to 283lbs. I go hunting on Stewart at least 4 times a week so I know a lot of the hogs "routine schedule". Some areas I still hunt in my tree stand or set up an ambush on their trail they make, and others I do the old stalk method. Some areas the hogs are out in the morning while other areas they come out of the thick brush in the early evening. you just have to find someone who knows the area you want to hunt but if you hunt on Stewart, make sure you have all required documents and hunter orange since you can use any size rifle now, I always use my good old 30.30 or my trusty 30.06 they both stop the hogs in their tracks and the hogs taste soooo good!
