About 15 years ago, I helped a gentleman build an 'experimental' in his garage. I think I spent a lifetime drilling and installing pop rivets! Watched him 'bake' and 'freeze' pistons and engine block in order for them to fit snugly. He called the plant that sold him the kit for technical advice a few times, which they gladly provided. Passed his FAA inspection with flying colors and flew it quite a bit. (No way I was going up!)

My uncle was a professional junk collector & was attempting to build one from his treasure. His pastor came by & saw the plastic lawn chairs and asked if they were for mock up. My uncle told him, no Im going to use them. The guy just got in his car & left.
Luckily, my uncle passed away before he finished the plane.

My first paid remodeling project in 1986 was installing a 6' double door in my uncles basement so that he could get the fuselage of his long easy out. Good times riding in it but his nickname was Crash. Looks like a fun money hole just say the word if you need a hand.

Rudder/brake pedal assembly complete. Had to rivet up the pedals, install master cylinders, match drill bearing blocks. Putting these aside for a while (have to paint interior prior to installation of anything).

Next project - finish up tailcone and join to fuse

My buddy is building a Carbon Cub and I told him he should paint “Hardware Sponsored by Harbor Freight” on the vertical stabilizer just to mess with FSDO.
