help,

Stuck muzzle brake on my ak74. I am sure is it due to fouling, carbon, rust or a combination of the three. I failed to remove and clean it after a shooting session or three and now have a stuck brake.

It used to come off by hand, easily. I have tried the basic cleaning / penetrating chems that I have laying around and can’t get it off.

What should I try? Hoping there is a chem that will get it loose

I haven’t used any big tools because I don’t want to tweak the front sight base or the barrel. I’ve only used a piece of rubber coated metal through the holes and tried turning it.

I found out the hard way as well...mine's still stuck.

Maybe work on in one day. Hard part is holding in the detent pin while turning.

I use a razor blade to hold the detent down while I have the rifle secured so I can stick the large channel lock handle (rubber coated) thru the brake.

Using the screwdriver from the AK cleaning kit works well for the pin. Lay it flat against the pin, with fingers on the screwdriver on both sides of the barrel.
